What I don't understand is why people eat at restaurants like this. They charge more than some of the best breakfast joints in Portland, yet have mediocre food. They have the image of being cheap, but are far from it. How did I end up here? The answer, my friend chose the spot. She lives in Oregon City, I live in Portland. She always treks out my way, because, well, it's Portland, need I say more? I thought I'd go out in her neck of the 'burbs to give her a break. Being the Yelp girl that I am I checked the reviews before I went. I wanted to call my friend and warn her of what we were getting ourselves into. I knew she liked this place so I resisted. I just ate breakfast ahead of time :) You may call it cheap, I just call it crafty. I had to order something, so corned beef hash it was. It was decent corned beef hash, much better than I anticipated, but like most things on their menu it was overpriced (the online prices are off, it's not $5.00's anymore). $5.99 for a side of corned beef hash, on a little plate. I can't believe I'm admitting this, but I brought my own slice of bread in a ziploc bag, because I didn't want to pay $2.50 for theirs. I think we can both agree that's cheap. Next time I cannot bite my tongue. I have to speak up when my friends want to go to places like this. I am such a food snob.

My wife and I eat here often. Out of all of the times we have been there, there have been a few times when the service was rough or the food wasn't up to par. However, I've found this to be the case anywhere. If you get one of the seasoned servers that have been around for awhile, it tends to make the experience pleasant. Especially if they know or recognize you. Our biggest disappointment is that they don't serve dinner. Prices are a bit high as well. Not enough to stop going, though.

You need to know what to expect. Pros Huge menu Huge portions of food Basic diner type service Lots of seating Pretty quick service Consistent This is very average fair, and very consistently fair. Omelettes are large but a bit overcooked and uninspired given the menu selection. My husband enjoyed the corned beef hash. My friend couldn't eat her cream of creamy cream soup (i can't remember what else was supposed to be in it). It was almost gelatinous and crazy gross rich. The grilled cheese took us back to 1975 with American cheese. Hmmmm My small oj should have been called "isty bitsy baby size". No specialty coffees. Basic breakfast fare w/o a wait.

I ordered the chicken friend steak: it was good, (not Stepping Stone good, but it was good) Large portions, quick impersonal service. NO good coffee, (plan on getting some afterwards..) the Toast was very tasty.. i think they are a small chain, yes? Hashbrowns were Denny's quality Kind of cafeteria style inside. it's aight'.... get the Chicken Fried Steak...

Horrible service and lousy, tasteless food. Will not go again. I had the meat lovers scramble. Tried a Biscuits years ago and did not care for it then. After hearing rave reviews lately I thought I was really missing something so gave it a try a few days ago. I was missing something! Lousy food and lousy service. Won't worry about missing that again!

Three stars because they have a few dishes that are rock solid and because there's not much else for brunch in Oregon City. But the bottom line about Biscuits is, "Meh, it's breakfast." The staff isn't generally happy, the coffee is burnt, and the vibe is just alright. But they've got sweet potato waffles that are legit, and most of the menu is a notch or two above Denny's. I wish I could say more, but it's a little too average here to spend my time on it.

We used to really enjoy Biscuits in Oregon City. However, the last 3 times we have been there have been horrible. Unfortunately there aren't many other places to get breakfast in Oregon City. 1. A couple of months ago my daughters and I met their grandma there for lunch. The place was empty and somehow it took us almost 45 minutes to get our food. Then the waitress went on break and we were ignored by everyone else. 2. Went back with my fiancé and our girls. Again the restaurant was pretty much empty. It took forever to get our food again. Then, the waitress forgot to bring my fiancé his drink. She disappeared and we were halfway through our meal before we could locate her again to get his glass of milk. 3. Today we took an out of town friend over there for breakfast. It was really busy, but we totally understood because it was a holiday. Everything seemed to be going fine, until two of our orders came incorrect. Apparently, the waitress grabbed the wrong food out of the window. Ok no big deal. However, we were then ignored. Our drinks never got refilled, so we had to flag down a different waitress to get us more coffee. Our waitress continued to ignore us and we had to flag her down to get our check. We really like the food, but the service is terrible. I have had much better experiences at other Biscuits. Maybe we will try the one in West Linn next time. :(

This place could do MUCH better with some small changes. The flow is terrible. You walk in and are in instant gridlock/confusion as to who is in line to be seated, who needs to pay, etc. They could drop a few tables and make a small seating area separate from the checkout. One that isn't located directly in front of the bathroom. Several times we've gone, the host that was seating people, was also bussing tables, and ringing people up. So, you have 1 person doing 3 jobs...and all the customers are staring at him because they're all in line to be seated...and another line to pay. Once someone checks out, the next person steps up because it's so crowded, leaving the people to be seated...unseated. The parking lot could drop a parking space and allow a drive-thru area. There's already a space you can drive thru once you turn into the dead end lot are in front of Biscuits. Remove those spaces, paint some arrows, and allow people to drive around when they see no spaces instead of awkwardly trying to back out and not cause an accident. The flow and service of this place is a mess. Small changes could make this place an OC delight. Sadly, the food isn't that bad, but the wait time, confusion, and flow takes away from the positives. Call in a Feng shui consultant, and maybe The Profit, and watch your average go up. Sad that a restaurant's main issue is service and layout. It's not the employees or food. It's the setup. Read the other reviews. Service, service, service, service...the employees are working twice as hard to even offer 2 star service because of the layout and limitations. And the staff is bearing it. You can tell. They're trying to maintain a positive attitude, and provide great service, but they're working with their arms tied behind their back.

Ok, so I decided to give this location a try once again to see if anything had changed and I I have to admit I was hungry :-). Just an FYI, there are not many parking spaces for this establishment so you may have to park down the road or in another lot. I was greeted with a smile and seated immediately. I was even asked which table I would prefer since I was dining alone today. I ordered coffee and I will say one of the nice things about this place is they have flavored creams but their coffee is just mediocre. At my table I had the choice of Irish cream or hazelnut. My waitress was extremely busy because the place was pretty packed with Saturday breakfast and lunch goers. I looked in the kitchen to see if I recognized the cooks and I didn't so I was thinking maybe the food is going to be much better this time. :-) I ordered the BLT with potato salad and it was delivered to my table approximately 11 minutes later which I feel was pretty prompt as busy as this place was. The toast was nicely toasted and not burnt. A nice layer of mayonnaise. The bacon was cooked medium and not too crunchy. The tomatoes were not completely green but were not ripe either. The leaf lettuce was from the outer layers which is nasty so I took it off my sandwich. The potato salad was an upset as it was just your typical store-bought mass-produced variety. I was really hoping for some homemade potato salad. :-( All in all the food was better than the last three times I've been here and the waitress was nice and attentive and therefore I gave it three stars.

Been here a few times and it was ok. Went yesterday and it was a disaster!!! Restaurant was 1/3 full. We ordered and waited a good 40 minutes for the food. When it arrived, my wife's bacon was cremated! Asked for a replacement... Took another 15 minutes...the waitress had to have a break. The second one the waitress send back at the pass... Also cremated. The 3rd one came out literally raw... When she brought it out, I said would you eat that.. She said yes... I laughed. I ordered fish and chips... Again they were also cremated... First time I have ever had fish that was the consistency of leather... No weight to it at all..all moisture had been cooked out. At that point the waitress was pissed and said she would send over the manager that never showed. Then the waitress was publicly grousing to the other wait staff about this... Unprofessional from the get go.... I LOVE to write great reviews... Not this time folks!!!

I have always heard good things about this place but I went in last weekend. It was crowded, took forever to get seated and the staff was rude so we left after 30 minutes of waiting. Couldn't tell you any more

Decent food, terrible service. Had to go to the drink fountain to get my own water several times because the waitress never brought us any. Had to get the manager to go find the waitress to get our ticket to pay because she never brought it. I had similar experiences the last couple times we came to biscuits so it had been about 6 months since we came here, and obviously nothing has changed. The waitress was still inattentive and acted like I was being rude by asking for water. I won't be coming back here.

Very poor service today. Waitress quickly took our order and brought drinks and then we waited over a 1/2 hour as everyone else got served their meal around us. Waitress never returned to fill water or check on us. Served other tables and chatted for extended periods of time with other customers. We were completely forgotten. Left after 30 minutes.

Today we went to go have some breakfast. It was a treat since both my teenagers agreed to be seen with me in public . The food was tasteless, the gravy was glue and I'm sure my body will thank me for it later. The major problem was the service . I never got a refill on my coffee. Half way through the meal I finally got water. I had to ask three different people for a to go box. I'm not demanding , but we where flat out over looked . There are other better places to eat at that treat you like a person . I'm done with this place.

Went to this place for what we thought would be a quick brunch before a 2:00 PM tour downtown. Showed up at 12:30, party of 4. Was seated promptly. Order was taken promptly at 12:40 - fish and chips, patty melt, meat lovers omelette, and my breakfast soft tacos with chorizo/hash browns/extra cheese-sour cream-salsa. Commence waiting. Continue to watch other tables seated after us get their food. Look at watches and realize it's 1:15, we have no food, and have to meet out your group at 1:45. Flag the waitress over and she said our food had just been put up in the window. Brought it over to us and the food was lukewarm. We asked for to go boxes so we could shovel food in our mouths as fast as we could in the car prior to the tour. She took forever to come back with boxes and our check. We finally get out of there at 1:40 PM and need to make our way to NE Davis Street. Had to call the tour group and tell them we were running late. Made it there at 1:58 and made our tour. Two star rating is only for the deliciousness of my breakfast tacos and the fact I did get the extra sour cream and salsa. However did not get the extra cheese I asked for (you'd think it's have been shredded but no, it was a Kraft single melted onto the bottom of the soft taco. There have got to be better breakfast/lunch places. As an out of towner, completely not impressed especially since it was close to $45 for that mess.

Whenever I go to visit family in Oregon City, we have to make it to Biscuits. Great breakfast, good service, and I've never been disappointed in the Chicken Fried Steak.

The food here is nothing special, however, it is tasty enough to serve it's purpose when you don't want to make a messy breakfast at home. The biggest challenge that I have faced at Biscuit's is the inconsistent service and the HORRIBLE coffee. No amount of cream or sugar can repair it.

My daughter and I had breakfast here this morning ... very clean and the service was great ..my daughter had eggs benedict and said it was very good ... I had pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs the saus. And eggs were good ... the pancakes were not that great ... not bad just kinda bland. Other than that it was a great breakfast.

Best Breakfast in OC!! Corned beef hash is the absolute best anywhere! Definitely my favorite!

  • Martin F.

Comfort food. It's crowded for a reason - you know what you'll get, you know what it will be like and you're ok with that. I think it's a little spendy, but the predictable good food, prompt service and environment are things that keep people coming back. I had the CFS - one of my favorites. They didn't disappoint.

I have no idea what the big deal is about Biscuits Cafe. Food is average, not bad just nothing special. Would not return and certainly not recommend.

Upon arriving we were seated promptly as there was not many people there. They didn't greet us nicely and didn't ask where we preferred to sit even tho there was only 5 tables taken. Our waitress was not very friendly at all and almost all staff seemed bothered by being there. I ordered the brisket dip and it was just alright. It was only meat on a bun, but the meat had decent flavor. Fries weren't very good at all. My husband got the chicken waffles and he said it was decent but they were over cooked. We received our check very shortly after receiving our food. What if I wanted something else? They also didn't even give us a second to sit down to review the menu before asking what we wanted. I didn't receive my dipping sauce until I asked a second time. Staff were having a celebration for an employees Bday rather than focusing on good service.

Went here for lunch a couple weeks ago. The clam chowder tasted sour. The rest of the food I ordered was not very flavorful. I wouldn't recommend this place for a meal.

The last 3 times ive been there, there has been something wrong! One time there was a hair in my breakfast, another visit my eggs were completely raw (I asked for over medium) and the last time I went, when I was putting the creamer in my coffee it was like putting cottage cheese in my coffee. Really the only thing good there is their strawberry jam!!

    (2)
  • Anthony G.

If you want a solid breakfast quickly here's your jam! Get it? Jam? No? Nobody? Also while I was here I noticed a meeting going on of what looked to be owners of the company making their rounds. All pushing 70, all looking as if this restaurant chain has been their baby for years. Just as you would expect from a home made style country breakfast place. Very happy to see there is still heart in business. I will be a happy customer here for a long time. Great service, blows Denny's and Shari's out of the water! Good food. Yeah, Ill throw 4 stars at it.

  • Cindy R.

The food and our waitress was good. But while trying to pay I kept getting interrupted by another server pushing past me. Really rude. It prompted me to go to my car and write this. The point is good service from beginning to end . Not just by "Some" of the staff "Some" of the time. Re-thinking my love of Biscuits Cafe.

Good food. Good service. Joe's Scramble is excellent. Get the melt-in-your-mouth biscuits and jam instead of toast. Hot chocolate comes in huge mugs. Trying the Brisket Benedict which is a new menu item - glad I ordered it :)

We've been to a several Biscuit's but this particular one is new to us. We were seated along the far wall along with everyone else and we can only guess that they thought that's what we'd want without asking. If we'd been asked, we'd have preferred a touch more privacy. Table service was friendly, helpful with the wifi password and prompt. Service out of the kitchen was quick enough and our orders were accurate and hot. Coffee was good, we had sausage eggs and biscuits with gravy. We were here on a Monday morning at 10:30 and there were many empty tables, okay, all the tables except those along the walls were empty. We feel prices are perhaps a touch higher than Denny's and Shari's but what a buck or two? We'll be back.

  • Joe H.

This is the dirtiest place I have ever had food . I had the scramble breakfast and the eggs were dripping with oil and the potatoes were just as bad. Never again!

  • T K.

I went there for breakfast today for the first time with my fiance. I was soooo disappointed. I got the corned beef hash, red potatoes, and pumpkin pancakes. I took one bite of my pancakes and pushed them aside. They weren't fully done and there was no flavor to them. And while I enjoy rosemary on my red potatoes, it just doesn't sit well at breakfast time when it is touching my eggs. The server dropped the ticket with our food so she never stopped by afterward to see how we were doing so my fiance didn't get a refill on his drink or a glass of water. I had to flag down another server just to ask for a box. While my breakfast was pretty crappy, I hate to waste that much food (one plus is the serving size was generous), especially after paying $11. Horrible service. No tip whatsoever. Bad food. Good size portions. Will never return.

Helllllllo biscuits cafe! Very cute mom and pops diner. Actually a lot bigger than an average diner. Anyways. It was very cutsies and the service was really good. So, I got the biscuits and gravy with bacon bc I mean supposedly their specialty was biscuits.. Let me tell you, wasn't THAT great, buy I've definitely have had worst. The bacon was spot on though. Super tasty and delicious. Would have liked iy just a bit thicker, but no big. Friends had eggs and pancakes. Got a bite of the pancakes, wasn't the bomb either but oh well. This is what we get for not being able to work bc our school gave us the wrong time to come in.

  • Butler K.

Did not particularly like the food, particularly the biscuits which is the one thing they should do well. Cracker Barrel it isn't but at least the food should taste great for the price you pay. Had them make an egg white omelette and that was a mistake. Very tasteless and I have had some great egg white omelette. Hard to believe you can't find a great home style breakfast in OC.

Like everyone has said - not repulsive, but not the slightest bit impressive or hunger satisfying at its best. I ate there once, probably at least a year ago. I ordered: a side salad - the ranch was warm, and the lettuce was browning - it looked like it was already served to a customer who regurgitated it, and I believe some sort of chicken sandwich / burger. It was OK. It wasn't so bad that I won't try it again....but I HATE browning lettuce. Hate.

  • Archturiat B.

Okay, I'll admit it. I like these kinds of breakfast places. Large portions, quick service, "sloppy" food. Their biscuits are exactly what you'd expect from a place called "Biscuits." Served warm, wonderfully fluffy and flavorful. Of course there's sausage gravy. Of course you'll want a box for their large portions. Oh, and they proudly announce they get all their breads from Wheat Montana, which scores them points in my book. But no matter what, I feel kinda "eh" about this place. It's not that it's bad, but there's nothing that makes this place really stand out. Service was impersonal (even if it was efficient). It has zero ambiance: it even fails to give you that "truckstop diner" feel that the service style and food quantities should give you. Prices were on the high side. Not completely out of line, but maybe $1 more than what you'd pay elsewhere with few inexpensive choices. I know Denny's sets the bar pretty low here, but even they've managed to keep the sub-$5 diner breakfast alive. Other reviewers have pointed out the coffee isn't the best. I couldn't agree more: in fact, a breakfast place with mediocre coffee in this day and age is unacceptable. Even Denny's and Shari's nowadays manage to serve coffee that is rich and not bitter. So, nothing to write home about with crappy coffee. Great biscuits, which gives them three stars in my book by default. With a little tweaking, it could be one of the best breakfast places in town instead of just "meh." I really want to give Biscuits Cafe more stars. However, given the wealth of breakfast places in the Portland Metro to choose from, it's really hard to give them the four stars they'd probably deserve if they were on an empty highway somewhere in the Midwest.

Good family pleasing breakfasts. A bit slow on the coffee and quick with the check, but fun place.

The OC biscuits it is the best place for breakfast in OC. Large portions, good service and when busy the wait times are not terrible. This is a small locally owned chain. When we have company over and decide to go out for breakfast we take them to Biscuits in OC. They have a decent sized menu and I feel the prices are average for the area. I give them an A but not an A+.

Overpriced...greasy spoon! What more can I say. Service was poor and the food tastes like, well you know, crap! Go somewhere else!

  • Kara T.

I would rather eat at Denny's! Biscuits Cafe- they have the basic breakfast menu...I of course ordered the chicken fried steak and it came out dry and a little chewy! Huge disappointment. The portions are huge, but the flavor is lacking. I think they forget to salt everything. The pancakes are huge, but I make better ones at home from a box! I wouldn't bother coming here again.

    (2)
  • Martin M.

Service is usually pretty good (except for the teenage boy who didn't speak to any customers) but it's been going downhill. They have a couple of long-time wait staff that are still good, but the new people might as well be not working because they're certainly not mentally present. Finished breakfast and sat waiting for a ticket. 5 whole tables with customers and she still couldn't figure out I might be done. No coffee refills. Asked for a box and looked up to see the wait person chatting in the back. Took five minutes. Food is still OK.
